Any outdoor adventure has to start with preparation for the event. You can keep yourself organized with a good detailed checklist. Nothings worse then getting to your location several hours away or even days and finding you forgot something on the kitchen table, although not always life threatening for sure but usually a pain in the butt.

Always let someone of your plans

Even with the most careful planning mishaps happen. So before you leave be sure to give someone you know and trust your plans on where you are going and when you should be back. Also give them your cell number, but they properly have that, but they may not have your license plate number or which vehicle you have. Better to be save then sorry later.
